Welcome to the website of BMC Moerdijk
BMC Moerdijk is a joint venture of DELTA, Coöperatie DEP, ZLTO and Austrian Energy & Environment. On April 21, 2006, the preparatory phase for the biomass power plant was completed and the start of the construction phase received its go-ahead. In September 2008 the construction phase was completed and the Dutch Minister of Agriculture, Mrs Gerda Verburg, officially opened the plant on 3 September 2008.
Renewable energy production
The power plant is an example of renewable energy production. The plant itself is designed to turn more than 400,000 tonnes of poultry litter into electricity (so called “green electricity”) and reusable minerals for agriculture every year. The plant has a production capacity of approx. 36 MegaWatt; enough to provide more than 90,000 households with electricity. The power plant offers poultry farmers in the Netherlands an environmentally friendly way to dispose their poultry litter.
Through this website we would like to keep you informed about the latest developments regarding BMC Moerdijk.
