Green electricity

BMC Moerdijk produces electricity. This power plant supplies 285,000 MWh of green power to shareholder PZEM Energy on an annual basis. That is more than enough to provide a city like Den Bosch – with 70,000 households – with electricity for an entire year. BMC generates around 565 net KWh of electricity from every tonne of poultry litter processed.

Six hundred poultry farmers contribute to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions through BMC Moerdijk, a considerable contribution to achieving the goals of the Dutch Energy Agreement. As a result, BMC Moerdijk will receive an MEP subsidy through the end of 2017 and an SDE+ subsidy from 2018.
